Bishop Athanasius Schneider Telling The Truth About Church's Problems

Bishop Athanasius Schneider, Bishop of Astana, Kazakhstan, gave an interview while paying a visit to England.  He had much to say about the current crisis in the Church - and he is correct.  Rorate Caeli has a text of the full interview.

He states that "the real crisis of the Church is anthropocentrism", that is, man putting himself as center of the church rather than acknowledging the Christocentric nature of the Church.  For this he decries the reception of Holy Communion in the hand.

I won't go into a full analysis now.  Suffice it to say it's well worth your time.  Pray for him and the few who are like him.  We need fearless shepherds now more than ever.

  2. Growing up in the 1940's it was unheard of that you would touch the host, this privilege was reserved for the priest and the priest alone. You would also not go into church without something covering your head. If you were receiving Communion, you fasted from midnight and even no water could be taken. I think this was probably changed in 1949 or thereabout. regarding drinking water. When I see what is happening in the Church today, cut off shorts, midriff blouses, short- short skirts, flip-flops, jeans pulled so low on the hips you can see the "crack", talking in Church, leaving immediately after Communion, etc. Even as young children in grade school, we learned the Latin Mass and sang Latin songs. And please, no more preaching about "Social Justice", Common Cause and redistribution of Income. And then quoting erroneously from the Bible to make your point.
